I first met Georgia at RAW: Verve (an artist showcase event), it was beside a stand covered in her signature style, cheeky illustrations. The first time I saw Georgia she was laughing about something with another attendee, and something about the joy in her eyes (or maybe the slight crinkle around her mouth and nose as she laughed) drew me in.
After half a year of life getting in the way (hospital trips, schedule conflicts, roster changes and the like), we were finally able to work together on a shoot a few days ago. Literally walking in the door from photographing yet another corporate Christmas function, I look down at my phone and see a message from Georgia on a recent post saying she was interested in shooting.
30 minutes later I was loading the car with equipment, throwing on a set of shorts (I had been in full business attire on a 35 degree day until that point) and pulling onto the freeway heading south towards our shoot location to set up.
What happened after that is nearly impossible to describe.
One of those rare moments in photography where you and your subject are so closely on the same wave length of thought, and just click creatively. Despite it being our first shoot together, Georgia was so natural and relaxed on camera that I was able to capture some truly powerful and emotive work.
Raw emotion, Power, Soft, Strong, Erotic, Vulnerable, Playful. Every time Georgia moved, we got something different but just as impressive. It was nearly a game of catch-up straight out of the gate. Given some starting directions and then a free reign on posing, Georgia created and I captured, in a true collaboration of artists.
