Morning Monochrome

Recently I caught up with one of my favourite collaborators; amateur model and professional makeup artist Georgia Ward.

Georgia first appeared on this site in the artist profile 'One to Watch' and has since featured several times, in both my portfolio and blog, due to the endless energy and enthusiasm she brings to every photo shoot. While Georgia is still in the process of deciding whether she wants to fully transition over to the modelling aspect of our creative industry, she is always keen to help out whenever I have a new idea or photo-setup I want to trial.

Over the past few weeks I've found myself wanting to experiment, and to see if I could achieve a full professional, studio quality, portrait without a majority of the equipment.

The photo-shoot was conducted outdoors at 7:30am using the morning sun as the primary light source, a remotely triggered speed-light for a small amount of fill, with a white paper-roll backdrop. The black and white concept we pursued in this shoot is vastly different from anything we have created together previously, and shows Georgia in a complete new light (if you will excuse the pun).

However, I will let the results speak for themselves.

Georgia performed all her own hair and makeup for the shoot.
